Ronan Phelan

Recording / Mixing Engineer

Ronan Phelan is a London based independent recording and mixing engineer. Originally from Ireland, Ronan completed his BA (Hons) in Audio and Music Technology at Pulse College in Dublin, before moving to London, to work as an engineer, in some of the world’s best recording studios.

In 2007, Sphere Studios offered Ronan a position as an assistant engineer, with Queen being his introduction to the industry. After such a blistering debut, Ronan quickly rose to become the house engineer, engineering for The Script, Mika, James Morrison, Duran Duran and Wave Machines, amongst others.

In 2014, Ronan joined Angel Studios, where he worked on numerous film and television projects such as Terminator Genisys, Downton Abbey and The Night Manager, while also engineering for artists including Dame Shirley Bassey and Chilly Gonzales.

Over the last decade, Ronan has honed and developed his skills, under the tutelage of Grammy® Award winning engineers Joshua Blair and Glyn Johns, as well as learning from some of the worlds most renowned engineers Alex ‘LEXXX’ Dromgoole, Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, Chris Kimsey, Bruce Swedien, Tommy Vicari, Cenzo Townshend and Jake Jackson.

Ronan’s experience in the industry enables him to be incredibly versatile and adept at recording and mixing across a vast array of musical genres and production styles. While working on numerous high profile projects, Ronan learnt first hand from producers and composers; Markus Dravs, Don Gilmore, Will.I.Am, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer, Mark Ronson and Rod Temperton.
